Transformers: Dark of the Moon – You Matter, You Are Important

by Yo Snyder

Psalm 8:4-5 “What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that
you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and
crowned him with glory and honor.” In Transformers 3, Dark of the Moon, the
heroic Autobots are once again fighting against overwhelming odds to defend
humanity and to defend freedom. Sam, one time Autobot ally and hero of the
world twice over, is doing something a bit less glorious; looking for a job.
However, he’d rather be fighting side by side with the Autobots because he wants
to do something important; he wants to matter. We all want that, don’t we? We
want to matter somehow, some way. We try to matter by being important, or being
rich, or being successful, or being talented, sometimes people even try to
matter by doing evil. Well the good news is you don’t have to try to matter in this world, because
you already do; you matter to God. In
fact, you are so important to him that he sent Jesus to suffer on a cross and
die a brutal death all to pay the price for your sin. Jesus conquered death
itself when he rose from the grave so you could have eternal life because you
matter to God. He loves you so much he wants to adopt you as his own child
through Jesus; that’s how much you matter. You don’t have to prove your
significance or importance and you don’t have to fight giant transforming
robots to show you matter. You already do to the God of the entire universe.
