Raving Rabbids: Alive and Kicking – Enjoying The Fun More Than The Win

by Yo Snyder

1 Timothy 6:17 “Command those who are rich in this
present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so
uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything
for our enjoyment.” So I was
playing this fun, wacky game for the Kinect on the Xbox 360 with my family the
other night called Raving Rabbids: Alive and Kicking. It’s just a bunch of
silly mini-games that uses your body as the controller to do wacky things.
However, as we played, I noticed something; it didn’t matter to me whether I
was winning or not, I was just having a good time. I was having fun with my
family, I was laughing at all the silly things we were doing, and whether or
not I scored the most points, meh, that didn’t matter as long as I was having
fun. We live in a very driven, “in it to win it” society”, but the problem is
when we focus solely on “winning”, whatever that may mean in life, we often
miss out on the fun. The good news is God doesn’t want that; he doesn’t want us
to miss out on the fun. When Jesus said he came to give us a full life, I think
part of that means a life that’s fun and enjoyable. Better yet, because of his
death and resurrection, we already know that he gives us the win, so we don’t
even have to worry about that and can just enjoy ourselves. So whenever you
can, and especially during this time of year, don’t worry about “winning”, and
just enjoy the fun.
