Playstation 3 – "New" Console In Great Bundles

by Yo Snyder

Much of the attention recently has been on Nintendo’s shiny new
console the Wii U, but in the midst of all of that, some may have missed
that Sony has it’s own console it’s putting out this Fall. It’s not a
brand-new one, but rather another facelift for the Playstation 3.

The
new “Super-Slim” PS3 is around 20% smaller and 25% lighter than the
current PS3 “Slim”. The new PS3 hits shelves in a couple of different
bundles this Fall, and comes in black or white…if you’re in Japan.
Stateside, we’re still stuck with just black. The first bundle arrives
in September and comes with a 250G PS3 and a Game of the Year Edition Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception along with $30 worth of digital content for Dust 514. That package will set you back $270. The other bundle comes with Assassin’s Creed III and a 500G model, but Sony hasn’t unveiled any pricing for it. It’s release date is October 30th.

So
this is all very interesting. As people debate whether or not Nintendo
go the price right with the Wii U, and with consensus leaning toward it
being just a little on the high side, here’s Sony coming along with a
“new” Playstation 3 bundled with an excellent game, and at least in the
250G bundle’s cases, priced less than the Wii U. So, when people are out
shopping this holiday season, and they c0me across a shortage of Wii
U’s, or even if they find some on the shelves and compare it with what
they get with the Uncharted “new” PS3 bundle, I’d have to think
that some might opt for the better value of the PS3 bundle; especially
if the predicted shortages of the Wii U actually occur. Why wait for a
HD console to be in stock when you can get a great one with a great game
for less money right now? Nintendo was never going to have an easy time
with the Wii U, I think this news just makes it all the more difficult.
