Madden 12 – On-Line And Christian Communities

by Yo Snyder

Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a
great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin
that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out
for us.” The start of the NFL season is right around the corner, and there’s
nothing that says football is here quite like the release of the Madden NFL
football game. This year’s edition features a slew of tweaks and improvements,
among them is an all-new online community feature. Here you can play with other
gamers who share your same level of skill, interests, competitiveness and so
forth. It’s a great way to play on-line without being intimidated by the idea
of being dominated by some on-line Madden pro who likes to humiliate noobs.
Community is also important for us as Christians. Now, we shouldn’t insulate
ourselves in Christian bubbles, but I do think our community as a church should
be a base of operations for us as we reach out to the world. It should also be
a place of respite, of fun, of friendship and of instruction. More importantly,
it should be a community that isn’t confined just to a church campus, but one
that we can enjoy in other arenas in our life; like maybe in Madden NFL 12’s
online communities. You see good news is a strong community of fellowship among
the children of God that surrounds us in every walk of life will help us
flourish and be effective witnesses for Christ, and like with Madden, it’ll
also make things more fun. Without it however; well, let’s just say I’ve never
heard of a successful lone Christian.
