Finding Nemo 3D – Even Better In 3D

by Yo Snyder

It’s easily one of the most beloved Pixar films of all time. Finding Nemo,
the film that captured hearts and an impressive almost $900 million at
the box office back in 2003 returns to theaters this weekend, now in 3D.
Most of you are probably very familiar with this movie, so you don’t
need to read a review about whether or not it’s any good; that questions
has already been well answered. No, the question here is whether or not
it’s worth seeing on the big screen again, and if it’s worth seeing in
3D. Well, I can say without hesitation that the answer to both questions
is a resounding yes, it is very much worth it.

Much as with The Lion King when it surprised everyone with it’s strong box office at it’s 3D re-release, Finding Nemo
is the exactly the type of movie that’s perfect for this kind of
treatment.  It’s easy to forget just how lush and beautiful this movie
really is. However, when you see it splashed across the big screen, with
it’s wonderful palette of colors and textures, full of details that we
just don’t see quite as well our own home screens, one is reminded of
just what a beautiful artistic achievement this movie really was. It
captures the grandeur and beauty of the ocean in a way few films have.
The added 3D effect, with it’s subtle addition of depth and dimension,
only enhances that beauty. It pulls you further into that world, truly
immersing you in it and making you feel that you truly are under the sea
sharing in the adventures of Marlin, Dory, Crush the Sea Turtle and, of
course, little Nemo. Just as the beauty of the African savannah, which
was so richly and beautifully captured in The Lion King, looked even better in the 3D, so it is with the wonder and vastness of the ocean here in Finding Nemo. Yes, this is a movie that’s worth going to see once again on the big screen, and it’s worth the extra to experience in 3D.

was also reminded just how beauty is crafted into not just the visuals,
but the story and characters as well. Many of the adults in the theater
seemed to have more and bigger laughs in this movie than the kids, but
it was apparent that all were swept up once again in this wonderful
world. There’s just something about this movie the resonates with so
many, and I think it’s pretty apparent what that is. Most people will
return to theaters to watch this movie once again because there’s just
something about this story of a father’s determined, never-give-up love
as he searches for his son that touches all of us. We all have a desire for that kind of love in
our lives. We want someone who will never give up on us, who will turn heaven
and earth upside down for us, all because of their love for us. Of course, the
good news is we all can have that love because that’s exactly the way our Heavenly Father feels
about us. He altered the course of history and forever changed the spiritual
realm for us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He desires for
everyone, every last single one of us, to come to repentance and to enjoy
eternal life with us. He never gives up on us no matter what we do, and always
stands ready with open arms to accept us, forgive us, comfort us and love us.
He is the Holy Hound of Heaven, who will never stop pursuing us with his love.
The story of Finding Nemo
isn’t just
another fish story, it’s another way of sharing what Jesus said about
the love of God in Matthew 18:12-13, “What do you think? If a man owns a
hundred sheep, and one of the wanders away, will he not leave the
ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?
And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one
than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off.”

Finding Nemo
is one of Pixar’s true classics, and it’s a special treat to see it not
only back up on the big screen, but to see it so carefully and lovingly
converted to 3D. Get caught up in the adventure, the beauty, and the
love that resonates so strongly in one of Pixar’s best. Regardless of
whether or not you see it in 3D, don’t miss out on seeing Finding Nemo once again in theaters; it truly is a special experience to enjoy with the whole family.
