Battlefield 3 – Details On The Back To Karkand DLC

by Yo Snyder

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 releases today, which of course
makes it the perfect time for EA and DICE to release some details on
the upcoming back to Karkand expansion pack for Battlefield 3.
This first bit of DLC is free for anyone who picked up the limited
edition of BF3, and for everyone else it’ll cost about $15 or 1200
Microsoft Points. It’s also worth pointing out that when it releases
this December, it comes a week earlier for PS3 owners.

Those
details aside, what will gamers get with this first bit of DLC? Well,
quite a lot actually. Four new maps from Battlefield 2 all re-envisioned
with the new Frostbite 2 engine. DICE mentioned that these maps feature
even more crazy destruction than the ones currently in the game. Entire
buildings will collapse if they take enough damage, which sounds like
fun to me. Along with the new maps are new vehicles, including a F-35B
with VTOL capabilities; that’s sure to be fun and cause a few crashes as
well. Also, there will be ten new weapons, new dog tags, and of course
new achievements and trophies. And if all that isn’t enough, there’s
also a new mode; Assault Conquest. Here, the defenders already own all
the capture points on a conquest map. The attackers have to quickly take
them back; sounds fun. So there you have it. A bunch of new toys coming
soon for fans of Battlefield 3, which I’m sure EA and DICE hope are enticing enough to keep players from answering the call of duty.
